Sister – in-law of Eileen Doyle, Maryann (Kevin) O’Neil, and the late Paul (Eugenia) Murphy. Also Survived by her adored many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

With her impeccable memory and gift of gab, Murphy regaled detailed stories of her childhood on Koester Street. She attended Mount Mercy Academy and met Brian, who made her laugh with daredevil driving around Caz Park. They married while she pursued a degree at Buffalo State College. As their family grew, they moved around the country to achieve the American Dream living in five states.

Throughout the years, Murphy considered Buffalo home base for holidays and reunions. She and her husband summered in Crystal Beach, Canada. Shortly before passing, Murphy enjoyed a beach week at her cottage with her children and grandchildren, a memory that gives comfort to those who knew her.

As a wife and mother, Murphy advocated for her family to have the best and be the best. She was an impeccable housekeeper and an incredible home cook. She was a PTA president and school board member in Cary, IL, where she right-sized the school district’s bookkeeping and sussed out bad employees. Murphy was also a math whiz, and skilled tax preparer and financial planner for H&R Block.

She retired in 2016 to care for a grandchild with leukemia. The next year, she flew across the country to help nurse twin grandsons out of the NICU. As an aunt, she welcomed nieces and nephews to live at her home and offered them sage guidance and support.

Murphy formed deep and long-lasting friendships with neighbors and colleagues across the country and is fondly remembered by all who knew her.
