RAMSEY, James J.

Passed away on April 4, 2024. Of Williamsville, NY. James was born in 1939 in Buffalo New York, to Helen end Robert Ramsey. His industriousness led him to his first jobs as a paper boy and gas station attendant at his uncle’s gas station. He had many jobs including working as a water ski instructor, at hotels, before beginning a long and successful career as a fiber broker and business owner. He held positions at Browning Ferris, and Consolidated Fibers, and co-owned Ramcol Fibers and was the owner of Warm Morning Insulation and Great Niagara Paper. He had a great love of music and classic boats and cars, especially Jaguar XKEs. He renovated homes, enjoyed skiing and hunting, and maintained beautiful gardens. He was a member of the Ellicottville Ski Club (one of the founders) a member of the ski patrol and a ski instructor to many including his children, their friends and nieces and nephews. He was a very generous and loving son, father and grandfather. James was well known for his work ethic, sense of humor and generosity. He is survived by his longtime love and companion, Lisa Lange, and loving family, son Jeffrey Mark Ramsey, daughters Lisa Marie Larson (Kent), and Laura Michelle Ramsey, his granddaughter Kathleen Marie Ramsey, grandsons Connor William Larson and Porter James Larson, several nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children, Starr Ramsey. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 17th at St. Mark’s Church, 401 Woodward Ave, Buffalo at 10:30.
